
Decatix
Description
Decatix is an ectoparasiticide Dip & Spray for the control of ticks, biting
and nuisance flies, and tsetse flies on cattle.
Administration
Decatix is a concentrated formulation which must be diluted with water for
use as a dip wash or spray.
Premix the required quantity of concentrate with approximately 10 times its
volume of water before addition to the bulk of the water in the dip or sprayrace
sump.
Treatment intervals
Routine tick control: Dip or Spray every 2 weeks. For tick control, or during
periods of heavy rainfall and increased tick challenge, weekly use is recommended.
For fly control, use strategically. Upto 4 weeks control of flies may be anticipated
on the degree of challenge.
Tsetse control is a specialized use. Significant reduction of the local tsetse
population occurs when Decatix is routinely for tick control.
Eradication of tsetse flies can be achieved only treatment is part of a coordinated
campaign.
Storage
Store in the original tightly closed container away from food, drinks and feedstuffs
and protect from extremes of temperature.
Disposal
Rinse, puncture and crush containers, bury away from water sources.
Do not re-use empty container for any other purpose.

Composition
Contains deltamethrin 5% w/v which is a light-stable synthetic pyrethroid with
potent residual activity.
Decatix is a suspension concentrate.
Indications
For the control of ticks, including organophosphorus and amidine resistantant
strains, biting and nuisance and tsetse flies on cattle.
DILUTION
Dip Tank:
Initial dilution:
1:333 (1 litre Decatix per 1333 litres of water)
Replenishment:
1:1110 (1 litre Decatix per 1110 litres of water added).
Or use the head system by adding 1 litre of Decatix for every 440 head of cattle
dipped.
Sprayrace:
Initial fill:
1:1000 ( 1 litre Decatix per 1000 litres of water).
Prepare 400 litres of wash plus 2.5 litres per animal to be sprayed.
Dilution:
10 ml Decatix 10 litres of water.
Ensure complete wetting.
Precautions
Withdrawal times. Meat: - 3 days.
May cause skin irritation. Wear protective clothing, gumboots, face mask and
gloves when handling the concentrated product.
Avoid inhaling mist.
Do not eat, drink or smoke when using Decatix.
Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly after use.
Remove and wash contaminated clothing after use.
Environmental Hazards
Extremely toxic to fish and bees.
Do not contaminate lakes, ponds, waterways, ditches with the product or used
containers.
First Aid instructions
Wash splashes of concentrate from the skin immediately with plenty of water.
If splashed into the eyes, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
If contact is made with the skin, wash off immediately with cold water and
soap.
If swallowed rinse out the mouth and give plenty of water and seek medical
attention.
Remove heavily contaminated clothing and wash off before re-use.
Toxicological Information/Note
If ingested, carry out gastric lavage.
Activated charcoal may be useful in reducing further absorption. Symptomatic
and supportive treatment is indicated. No specific antidote is necessary.
Diazepam may be used to control hyperexcitability and or convulsions.
