Triatix
Description
Is an ectoparasiticide Dip & Spray for the control of ticks, mange mites,
keds and lice on cattle, sheep, goats, camels, pigs and dogs.
Administration
Triatix EC must be diluted with water before use and then applied as a dip
or spray.
Dilution
Initial filling of a dip tank.
Dilution ratio: 1 litre of the Triatix per 500 litres of water.
Procedure.
-Calculate the correct number litres of Triatix depending on the capacity of
the diptank.
-Empty all the Triatix into an empty drum and precream with an equal volume
of water.
-Pour the solution into the dip tank, add risings, then agitate thoroughly
before dipping cattle.
-At the end of dipping, add all the bags of the stabilizer to the dipwash by
sprinkling the powder directly onto the surface of the dipwash along the length
of the diptank.
Note. Each litre of Triatix goes with one bag ( 3.5Kg ) of stabilizer. Ensure no
rain water drains into the dip before dipping session.
TECHNICAL INFO
Presentation
Each litre contains:
Amitraz - 125g
Triatix EC - is a straw- coloured emulsifiable liquid.
Indication
Triatix EC is a highly effective ectoparasiticide used for the control of single
and multi-host ticks, mange mites, keds, biting and sucking lice on cattle,
sheep, goats, camels, pigs and dogs.
-Effective against strains of ticks that are resistant to arsenicals and organophosphorus
chemicals.
-Exhibits a rapid expellant action which causes ticks to detarch, drop to the
the ground and die.
-Has a residual effect for 7-10 days.
-Rapidly degraded in soil.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place in the original container with the cap tightly closed.
Packs
40ml, 100ml, 250ml, 500ml, 5 litre, 20 litre and 200 litre drum.
ADMINISTRATION GUIDELINES
Triatix EC must be diluted with water before use and then applied as a dip
or spray.
A: DIPPING
The active ingredient in Triatix EC is biodegradable and thus has to be kept
stable in the dip by the addition of a stabilizer.
The stabilizer is made of a special grade of calcium hydroxide.
The concentration of the amitraz in the dipwash must be maintained at 0.025%
w/v.
Dip Replenishment:-
a) Dip replenishment must take place after more than 500 head of cattle have
been dipped.
b) Dip replenishment interval must not be longer than 3 weeks.
c) The minimum number of cattle that can be dipped at weekly interval should
be 80.
Replenishment methods
Conventional system.
Use 1 litre of Triatix cattle dip concentrate for each 300 litres of added
water, precreaming as above. The stabilizer packs should added at the end of
the dipping, by sprinklingly the powder onto the surface of the of the dipwash
along the length of the diptank.
Head count system.
Use 1 litre of Triatix cattle dip concentrate for every 125 head of cattle
that have been dipped (procedure as above).
Topping-up the dip tank with water to the full mark is done immediately before
the next dipping.
Dip weekly for optimum tick and tick-borne disease control.
B: SPRAYRACE
Cattle, Hair-sheep and Goats.
Pre cream the measured amount of concentrate with an equal volume of water
before mixing with bulk of the water in the sprayrace sump.
Usage:
Fill the sprayrace sump at 1:500 ( 2ml/litre or 200ml /100litres), preparing
400litres plus 2.5 litres of wash per each animal to be sprayed. Boost sump
each 100 head of cattle sprayed using 250mL of concentrate per 100 head. Discard
spent wash at the end the days spraying.
Spray weekly for optimum tick and tick-borne disease control.
Under heavy tick challenge it is advisable to clip the and hairs tail brush
to assist wetting.
HANDSPRAYING
a) Dilute before use by pouring the requiredamount of concentrate into a container
of water and mix thoroughly by stirring.
b) Usage: Dilute at 20mL per 10litres of water. 10 litres of wash are enough
for 1 cow. Make enough wash for the days wash.
c) Spay weekly for optimum tick and tick-borne disease control
d) For hand dressing use rate is 1:250ml (4ml/litre).
PIGS:
a) Lice: Dilute at 1:250 ( 4ml/ litre) and spray twice at 21 day interval;
b) Sarcoptid mange: Dilute at as above and spray twice at 7 days interval.
PRECAUTION
-Do not slaughter animals for human consumption within 3 days of the treatment.
-Wear protective clothing, face shield & rubber gloves when handling concentrated
product.
